Diabetic Wounds on Legs - Diabexy

What is a diabetic Wound, diabetic ulcers, or diabetic sores? All of these words have the same meaning. you might have seen a wound or open sores but why is it different for diabetes patients? How is it different from a normal wound? Sugar patients want to know why their wounds are not healing despite taking antibiotics or other medication.

Let's learn why it happens and how it can be taken care of.

The difference between a diabetic wound and a normal wound is that diabetic patients have high sugar levels. When too much sugar is available around the wound it becomes a source of an abundant supply of food for growing bacteria. Glucose is a perfect food for bacteria; they thrive on this and grow faster. Rapidly growing bacteria produce more toxins and cause inflammation around the wound. These toxins kill the cells and healing is prevented.

Despite support from the immune system and antibiotics, these bacteria become unstoppable. They don’t die and keep multiplying. Unhealed wounds become ulcers and a long-standing ulcer has no cure. At this point to save the rest of the leg, foot amputation is done. Diabetes is the number 1 cause of foot amputation in the world.

How does Diabetes Cause Wounds on the Legs?

Not every diabetes patient gets these wounds. If a diabetic patient has a wounded area around his legs or hands, then the excessive inflammation and lack of blood supply turn it into a diabetic wound. High blood sugar makes the blood thick hence thick blood cannot reach the deeper places. In most cases, these sores appear on the foot, ankles, and lower part of your legs but it does not mean these wounds can’t appear on other parts of the body they can also appear on your hands but wounds of hands can be curable easily and wounds of legs become difficult to cure So, if you see any signs of sores Please consult a good doctor immediately else it may become dangerous later on.

Conclusion:

Unmanaged blood sugar creates a significant threat to overall health, destroying the intricate system of our body health including the nerve system, blood vessels and Lack of oxygen in the blood and other nutrients to repair wounds makes it prone to injury and diabetic foot ulcer.
